I'll admit it - I'm a dork. I love new gadgets and cool gear, anything high tech or spiffy gets me going.
So when I saw that we had temperatures below freezing and serious windchill this morning, I decided that today would be the perfect time to try my Extreme Cold Weather system gear from the Army while I shoveled the driveway. (It really doesn't get all that bad here usually, so this is the first time I've had the excuse.)
Let me tell you, I won't be doing that again! I think the designers anticipated me being deployed to Antarctica with this thing. About 3 minutes into shoveling, I was sweating like crazy. Just standing still, I was snug and warm, but any movement at all quickly got me overheating - and this in a windchill around 15 degrees.
At least I know we aren't buying junk...
