Never Forget

Today marks the five year anniversary of September 11, 2001. I have tried at least four times now to come up with a posting that conveys my feelings, but every time I try, it seems insufficient.

Maybe it is something that can only be expressed by the shared experience, something that can't be put into words. I'm not sure that those of us who lived through that day will ever be able to come to terms with the emotions.

I have my own experiences, which those who know me well know about. Those have shaped my view of everything since that day, and I'm sure yours have as well.

On this anniversary, all I hope is that we can come together once more, and rededicate ourselves to the purpose that was born from the ashes in lower Manhattan and Washington. Remember what we are fighting for even as I write this - and especially remember that the war is not over, and may not be finished in our lifetimes.

Above all, remember the courage of the people on United Airlines Flight 93, people who refused to give in to their murderers and chose to fight back.

Let's roll.
